What We Do
Central to the mission of the Guild is the honorable title Sultan-ul-Qalam (“King of the Pen”), divinely granted to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him) of Qadian, the Promised Messiah and Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Drawing inspiration from this distinction, the Guild advances a Jihad through writing, addressing misunderstandings, challenging misleading narratives, and articulating Islam’s authentic message of peace through rigorous research, refined expression, media participation, and scholarly excellence.
Historical Background
The Muslim Writers Guild of Uganda was established globally on 14 September 1936 under the leadership of the Second Khalifah of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra). Operating internationally under the umbrella of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, MASQ Uganda functions as an affiliate of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Uganda, providing a structured space for the development of writers, researchers, and thinkers devoted to Islamic intellectual tradition.
By producing well researched articles, essays, critical analyses, and reasoned responses, the Muslim Writers’ Guild of Uganda aims to connect with modern audiences, enrich public dialogue, and promote the enduring Islamic values of truthfulness, justice, rationality, and peace through the effective use of the pen.
